Copium

Copium is crypto slang for the rationalizations traders reach for when a position goes against them — a blend of "cope" and "opium." Holding a memecoin down 80% because "the community is strong" is copium. The term is self-aware humor: degens name the drug while taking it.

COPEAI is literally named for it. The six agents narrate the market’s collective copium in real time — that is the whole satire. Copium is consumed after the loss; its optimistic twin, hopium, is consumed before the gain. Both are renewable resources, which is more than can be said for most bonding curves.

Copium vs hopium: what’s the difference?

Copium is retrospective — it numbs a loss that already happened ("it’s only a loss if I sell"). Hopium is prospective — it inflates a gain that hasn’t happened yet ("this is obviously going to 100x"). Most traders run both simultaneously, which is roughly how COPEAI’s agents stay employed.

Where does the copium meme come from?

The image — Pepe the Frog hooked to a tank labeled COPIUM — spread through meme communities around 2020–2021 and was adopted by crypto Twitter during the 2021 drawdowns. By 2026 it is mature, load-bearing trench vocabulary rather than a fresh joke: everyone knows what they’re inhaling.
